I have been VERY AND EXTREMELY lax with keeping up with this blog. Life has been something of a rollercoaster these past few months. There have been some significant life events, let me tell you.
AND I have a new book out! It is a follow up to Beautiful Broken Things and it is called Fierce Fragile Hearts. If you’ve read BBT and ever wondered what Suzanne, Caddy and Rosie were up to a couple of years on, this is the book for you. And this time, Suzanne has the microphone, so you’re going to want to see what that’s like.
Book summary heeere:
‘This time around, I’m going to be so much better. I’m going to prove to them that it was worth waiting on me.’
Two years after a downward spiral took her as low as you can possibly go, Suzanne is starting again. Again. She’s back in Brighton, the only place she felt she belonged, back with her best friends Caddy and Rosie. But they’re about to leave for university. When your friends have been your light in the darkness, what happens when you’re the one left behind?
Hey, I just finished reading ‘Beautiful Broken Things’ and it’s safe to say i’m in a muddle of emotions! I feel so relieved about it all. I have learned so much from this book. The end, when Caddy went to visit Suzanne, made me feel so many different emotions. I am so happy it didn’t end like all the other books, with her going back to live the way she did and all that - you showed what needed to be done. The trauma in this story touched me in such a deep way. I want to thank you for that.

Thank you so much! This is so lovely to hear :-)

Not so much a question as a thank you. For the realistic portrayal of social anxiety, how crippling it can be, the internal monologue - some of Steffi's fears were so close to my own it made me tear up - and that's as a full grown adult.

Thank you! <3

Hello! I'm reading Beautiful Broken Things right now (I mean, right at this moment) and I love it! But what I can't get out of my head is - and this sounds really strange - what is that easy recipe for macarons? I can't find one for ages, gosh, I would be so thankful! :) Also keep writing, because it's I can't stop reading it:)

To be totally honest I don’t have it - it’s my best friend’s recipe! I went to her house and we made them together for that scene. This is the simplest recipe I can find online - it was definitely similar to this!

Just wanted to thank you for writing beautiful broken things, its so nice to read a more honest expression of feelings which are so often kept hidden. Great book I couldn't put it down.

Would you say that Beautiful Broken Things would be as easy to relate to for boys?

I don’t know - I expect it would depend on the individual. I have spoken to many boys who have read and enjoyed it.
Happy 2017 from MKB! We had a wonderful 2016 talking books with you in 2016, so get ready for another year of FABULOUS reads for teens and young adults!
And what better way to start 2017 than with a brand new Book of the Month - A Quiet Kind of Thunder by @sarabforbooks / @sarabarnardofficial , a rich and enthralling love story about the times when a whisper is as good as a shout.
Beautiful Broken Things moved me to tears. I relate a lot to both Caddy and Suze in various parts of the story. What advice would you give me on dealing with friendship while dealing with the same issues in the book?
Behold the beauty of the cover for A QUIET KIND OF THUNDER, coming January 2017!
Hey Sara, I love your book! It's really moving and I can really relate to it, so Thankyou! I was just wondering what are your all time favourite books (trying to read more!) and do you have any advice for an aspiring author? Thankyou, Elly xx
My advice for an aspiring author is to read as much as you can and to write because you love it. It should be fun! If you get joy out of writing it, someone will get joy out of reading it one day. Good luck!
